Event Notes

JOSECITO ALVARENGA
REQUINTO´S PRODIGY
From Paraguay, South America

Josecito started at 6 years old, thanks to his father and his musical group named Itapúa 3, where he started his first lessons on guitar. After unveiling his talent, his parents introduced him to singing contests, winning many local and regional competences. That was when Josecito decided to completely dedicate himself to music.

By the eager age of 8 he had already recorded two discs. Known as the “Prodigy Kid who conquered the nation” he began the first of many tours between Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay. During his teen years he won many contests including the famous “Festival de San Juan Nepomuceno”.

An important highlight in these years was the honour of receiving an invitation from the European Union to perform in representation of Paraguay in Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Sydney in an international Young Festival. After returning from his European tour, he continued his professional music studies at the Kansas Music University. In this time he also performed in Orlando, Florida.

After coming back he released his first album as a solo artist named “PRECISO DE TU AMOR”, also with original songs.
Josecito received many important national distinctions as “guitar prodigy” at important festivals such as “Sonidos del Bicentenario” in 2011, , Reducción Jesuítica de Trinidad and the  Festival de la Locomotora in 2014.
In 2016 Josecito travelled to to New York and New Jersey to give concerts, and later to Washington D.C.  for the celebration of the Independence Day where he had the opportunity to perform at the Theater of the BID, and in another chance along with world famous guitarist Berta Rojas in the Gramo-Paraguay Festival, where he was distinguished by the Paraguayan Embassy in Washington D.C.

In 2017 he returned to Washington D.C. to perform again at the same Independence Day Festival.
